For those of you paying attention to us on a regular basis... you're aware of this situation. Some of you have been going through the torturous wait right along side of Team Goettsch. But for those of you who need a refresher... here it is.
Photographed older sis five years ago... Said older sis brought along a pair of giggly twin sisters that were middle schoolers at the time back in the day. Fast forward five years and now it's the twins turn. The older of the two (by one minute... Miss Amy) went first, naturally. And FINALLY, we've gotten around to presenting to you, Miss Emily.
And as you'll see here, there's no mistaking that they are indeed twins. After being reunited with the girls at Amy's session, and seeing that while they had grown up alot in five years, there most certainly was still a LOT of giggly little girl in each one of them... and that's a great thing. ;)
That being said, the girls TRIED passing off this idea on me that they were way different and yada, yada, yada... but realistically... Laura to Amy... to Emily... Second and third wonderful verse... same as the first. Kinda shy... unassuming... very little demands... but lookout once they get comfortable because here comes the unbridled silliness! (case and point... check out the black and white series below... note to self... tell sisters to "be serious" and you'll almost always get the opposite)
It had been determined by the girls that Emily's session would be the one where the girls would be photographed together... so I knew that was coming. And if it were up to the twins, they would have loved to include older sis, Laura as part of the day as well. And if that would have happened, no doubt it would have been a complete and total Goettsch Girl Laugh-o-rama all over again... just like it was back in 2010.
As circumstances dictated however, Laura was unable to join us that day, and instead, the twins had an idea.
They wanted to return to the exact location of their now trademark laughing picture took place five years ago... and take ANOTHER image... but this time, since Laura could not be there... they would be holding the picture that we made OF them laughing together back then.
Awwwwwww.
"Best friends are we.... my sisters and me." Even still today. :)
The other highlight of the day came when the girls had decided that they wanted their papa involved. Although I never saw the actual photograph, they tried to describe an old image of them when they were babies. Mark Goettsch had his back to the camera and over his shoulders were his two bundles of bouncing baby-ness.
Clearly he couldn't HOLD them up like he did back then... but we could get 'em in the ball park.
And that's when the throat lumps started a lumpin'.
After I tried my darnedest to ruin the moment by giving Mark a hard time about seeing his best side when he turned his back to me for the photograph, they all laughed and then things got emotional.
The girls, now nearly fully grown, leaned into their father and nestled into his loving arms one more time, their cheeks touching the side of his head.
She probably didn't know I heard it... but I saw Amy gently whisper to her papa... "I love you, Daddy."
I'm guessing Mark was glad he wasn't facing me right then... because I'm nearly positive he was in bittersweet tears... and I was fighting it off myself.
We got the images of the three of them, and I saw Mark wipe away a tear or two as he returned to his wife, Carla who was watching it all unfold just like I was.
It wasn't the first time that I've seen parents get emotional in our camera room, but when it does... it's always special and I don't forget it.
Thanks for being so patient in waiting for your blog to follow up to sis's, Em. I thought I had to make sure we chronicled your special ideas on top of your individual senior images. I think you'll agree it was worth the wait.
