My Holm Boy...

Now I know what you're thinking...

Wait a minute... THAT's not a uniform we see around here, is it?

Mustangs?   Red and white?   A horse shoe logo?

What. The. Heck?

All those questions would be valid.

And, while I'd like to think that Stewart Photography's reach stretches to all corners of the state of Iowa and beyond... the realist in me knows otherwise.

So, how is it then that we got one of Dallas Center-Grimes' best ballers to come our way for senior images, recently.

Blame the mom.

Randy Holm's mother, Jill... is an ol' friend from way back.   Like so far back that the school that she and I attended together doesn't exist anymore... and hasn't for two and a half decades.   Jill and I were proud members of SEMCO High School of Gilman, back in the day.   As most around here now know, SEMCO made love to arch rival LDF of LeGrand and then gave birth to LDF-SEMCO and then went to the courthouse and officially had it's name changed to East Marshall.

So, we've known each other for a long time.   And like many... we had lost touch for awhile, but then were reunited six years ago when her daughter, Sara had her senior images done as a member of Ozark High of Ozark, Missouri.   Sara was my very first senior of the class of 2010... and as fortune would have it... all of the participants in that session six years ago, were all back for more when it was Mr. Randy's turn a few weeks back.

Jill and Sara were there, in addition to Grandma Jeanie Schroyer... so it was good to catch up with everyone again.   We reminisced about the good ol' days... recalled how I slipped and nearly wrecked myself during Sara's shots in the creek half a decade ago when the camera and I crashed HARD to the ground and while I was bleeding, Sara exclaimed... "IS THE CAMERA OK?!??!?"

Ahem.

Fortunately, the camera WAS ok... and eventually the scabs on my left shin healed... and yes... I was brave enough to make a return trip to the treacherous creek with Sara nearby.   (The girl graduated from the University of Iowa in International Relations, btw... lets hope that somewhere along the line she learned that humans were more important than cameras!  :)   )

All kidding aside, lots had changed since I had last crossed paths with Team Holm/Schroyer, but it was great to see their loyalty to their guy back home.   Did I mention that Grandpa John even made an appearance with Randy's favorite mutt,  Bronny?   Is was a collective effort, no doubt.

I learned that Randy had undoubted crossed paths with my youngest son before actually meeting me as young Mr. Holm works non-stop at SkyZone in Grimes.   For those who are unaware... the place is trampoline haven for kids of all ages.   Translation:  Middle School Boys Like Mine Love It.

Back when we did Randy's session a month ago or so, we talked about how it's been difficult for him to stay healthy as the injury bug has plagued our hoopster.   SkyZone got his ankle mangled once... and his elbows have had the propensity to dislocated with the help of running into walls behind baskets.

With his senior campaign on deck with a Mustang outfit that makes trips to The Well for the state tournament a regular occurrence, let's hope that #20 stays off the disabled list.   Because we all know that if he DOES get hurt, his sister will show very little mercy.  :)

Good luck and best wishes to all of Team Holm.   It was great to see you all again.
