Football and Flatbills with number Fifty-Four...

It's late in the fall season and in walks another senior guy.   Probably not his cup of tea, this whole senior picture thing, but he's easy goin'... up for anything.

The good news is that his mother is just as agreeable as her son, if not even more so.   So much so that she allows her son a 50/50 spilt.

Fifty percent regular outfits... fifty percent football.

That's my kinda gal!

That's the big picture overview of GMG senior, Lucas Catherwood.

I had photographed big bro, Jake three years ago, so none of this came as much of a surprise.  Another big dude... and mom still has the biggest personality that you'll ever find.

So, my marching orders were set.   Try to find whatever fall color might be left, and then get my gridiron on.

The word "orders" might be a little bit of a bend of the truth, I guess, because if you've ever met Lucas' mom, you know that they don't come any more trusting and friendlier than this gal.

"Oh we trust ya!"

"You just do your thing."

"Whatever you think is best, hon."

Roxanne Catherwood might not be from the south... but the way she talks to ya, one might think she was with the good ol' girl lingo... minus the southern draw.   It can't help but make you smile.

So Lucas, Roxanne and I bounced around town getting the commiserate amount of outdoor images filed away.  Lucas was generous enough to "allow" a quick series with his mom even...  and then it was down to what he really came for.

Football images.

GMG's right guard and defensive tackle, Lucas clearly came for one of our patented sports collages.   And after a senior year that saw more victories than his first three years in school combined.... why not!   Lots of big memories were made this year.   Getting the job done this time against Southeast Webster... beating North Mahaska again... FINALLY getting a victory over North Tama and toss in a win over Iowa Valley for good measure.   Just a break here or there against Belle Plaine, and the Wolverine faithful woulda had themselves a playoff team.

In addition to the Black-n-Silver, Lucas brought in his Notre Dame Tai-ler Jones #7 jersey for a tip of the cap to the Fighting Irish.

Clearly the Golden Domers haven't quite had the year that they did a year ago when they reached the BCS National Title game, but when the luck of the Irish has been engrained in your being since you were a little boy by your father... it's fitting to bust out the jersey with the ND and the flatbill with the fighting leprechaun brandished across its crown.  I have a strong feeling that Papa Larry's love of the Minnesota Vikings is the root reason that Jake incorporated the purple-n-gold in his session... and conversely, the same reason Lucas donned the ND gear.

Thanks Team Catherwood for bustin' out your colors at Stewart Photography again.
