Seriously? How much fun is my job?
I could be a dentist (that no one looks forward to seeing)... or a mortician (that everyone eventually gets to see)... or a plumber with my pants hangin' a bit too low (now NO one needs to see THAT).
All due respect to the other professions... I'll take my spot right here in this modest little shop in a little lick in the road where we make somethin' outta nuthin' daily. It's been a crazy busy June... and while I probably do my fair share of whining about the hours I log... I really wouldn't have it any other way. :)
The latest in line fill our schedule and to make ME smile and feel like I've got the best job ever was Shelby. I'd try to pronounce her last name... but I'd probably butcher it...
Here's the spelling O-E-L-S-C-H-L-A-G-E-R. German I'm told. :)
So this blond haired-blue eyed girl of German descent came our way Tuesday afternoon and I took a look at that ONE (just one) massive dimple on her right cheek and knew I had an easy session in front of me.
My favorite line from the day was when I was setting up for the spotlight image below and I asked her what brand her shades were. Her answer?
"Awesome."
I don't think that's a brand name... but I would agree... and perhaps it should be?
So the girl who announced to the facebook world early Tuesday morning that I was like "none other" has learned a valuable lesson... And that is... flattery will get you far. :) Facebook, as many know, is a potential time drain... but what it is great for is feedback. As an artist... it's sweet to see what people enjoy about your work.
That being said, I've told people that topping oneself 100+ times annually gets increasingly more difficult and sometimes even stressful... but Shelby was counting on that.... and so was Mama Dawn... and when your reputation proceeds yourself... even Aunt Debbie wants to come along to see what all the fuss is about. (thanks for chasing down that soccer ball until I was satisfied, Deb!)
I hope I lived up to your expectations. Team Shelby certainly held up their end of the bargain.
