Four seniors into the senior season... and we had seen representation from GMG, West Marshall and BCLUW already... someone had failed to represent.
East Marshall.
Traditionally the school that we'll photograph the greatest percentage of its senior class, the first Mustang out of the shoot was none other than Rean Webb.
I knew Rean primarily for his wrestling for Coach Todd Hinegardner's rock solid EM program... and a for football... but there was something I DIDN'T know.
Dude's got mad fashion swag.
I can't be for sure... but from the looks of things... I think Rean and his mom may end up dropping more coin at The Buckle than they will at Stewart Photography! ;)
Rean denied it, but Mama Tara said he's gotta lot of Jersey Shore in him (he was TOTALLY shaking his head when she said it)... and while I don't think I'll start calling him "The Situation" anytime soon, I was envious of his threads.
Check out those jeans! I was informed that it nearly takes 1/2 the profit from a senior session to purchase a pair of those sweet Rock Revival jeans... but Rean assures me... they are worth every penny. Do they last as long as a pair of 501 Levis? I'm not sure... but I can tell you this much... I could tell that they made him FEEL awesome just to wear 'em... (kinda like handin' out Stewart Photography wallets, right bro?) ;)
So... we talked about clothes, to be sure... but, as most sessions with Mustangs go... we mostly talked about all things East Marshall.
There was a palpable buzz still resonating Friday morning as the EM softball and baseball teams had just notched benchmark wins over rival BCLUW the night before... we also talked about coaching changes and transition going on in the sports that affect Rean directly... wrestling and football. New head coaches will be steering the ship this fall... one has a big rebuilding program ahead... and the other gets the task of trying to maintain what's been a model of consistency. Despite those differences... I found Rean's attitude to be cautiously optimistic... which is always a good approach.
Finally, I took the time, like I always do... to thank Rean and his mom for their decision to support Stewart Photography. His mom had mentioned it had come down to either us... or our main competitor... the tie-breaker? A trip to The U.S. Cellular Five Seasons Center in Cedar Rapids a couple years ago to chronicle the wrestling team's first ever trip to State Duals. (some of those candids are featured in Rean's wrestling collage... check it). We realize that we cannot... and will not photograph everyone... even though the competitor in me seems to nearly run myself into the ground trying to each year. What I've learned to do is to be thankful and bust my hump for each and every one we DO land... and it's no secret that when they come from your alma mater, there's something extra special about that. Thanks Webb family!!!
