I've photographed well over 3000 seniors over the last 20 years and never once had one been named Rhett.
So when I asked Rhett Thys' mother, Stephanie why the unique name, she had a unique answer.
"I told my husband when he asked to marry me that as long as the first boy could be named Rhett... I would say yes."
:)
Mama Stephanie has her ground rules!
With
that established, the Thys' first born was destined to be Rhett. But
do you wanna know something crazy? Mr. Thys attends Class 1A HLV High
School in Victor. Senior class 26 people. 1/13th of the senior class
is named Rhett! Who'd a thunk it?!?! Two out of twenty-six! Not
sure what the odds of that are... but it ain't good ones!
Speaking
of oddity in names, we've had a steady stream of Warriors from HLV make
it our way over the years. Most notably, three families in particular
have helped keep us afloat.
The DeBrowers. The DeRyckes. The Dentels.
Thank
goodness the Thys' showed up, or I was beginning to think that the good
folks in Victor made it a requirement to have a last name that began
with "De" to reside there!
Enough with the names... what kinda kid did we have on our hands.
Rhett's
passion lies in his legs... specifically where they can take him... and
how quickly. An avid runner who has steadily climbed his way into one
of the state's elite Class 1A Cross Country runners. Rhett has a
realistic goal to be in the top 10 to 15 in the state this fall... and I
won't be surprised to see him make it.
He had done a little
homework about our studio and the one thing he HAD to have was one with
his running shoes on fire. Mission accomplished. That wasn't enough,
however... he also has a killer sports collage (featuring cross
country, of course!) and... the cherry on top was a brainchild that we
BOTH came up with. I spied that Rhett had a Nike GPS watch. I only
knew what it was, because I had purchase one for my wife a few weeks
back. We got to talking about how cool they are and how much data it
tracks for you and such... when it dawned on us. Wouldn't it be cool
to take one of those Nike maps that it generates for you and make that
the background? Bingo. Done. Needless to say, Rhett... my wife was
highly impressed with the times. She's got some serious work to do to
get on your level. ;)
Oh we had to squeeze in a few other
things... like FOUR more outfits... which surprisingly, Rhett was
totally okay with. The fishin' pole was a must, and we had a beautiful
day for it. I'm not so sure that Mama Stephanie wasn't having just as
much or MORE fun than Rhett... which I'm good with. If memory serves..
there's 3 more Thys' on the way eventually... and I will be more than
happy to let some more Warriors dash over to Montour.
