Simply Sam...

Poor Sam Sheer may not have known what he was in for.

And if he did... he didn't let it show.

Senior session No. 3 from the Sheer family from State Center began like the others... a beautiful summer day...a whole SLEW of outfits... the same excitable mom... but there was one small difference.

The senior's opinion of this whole thing.

Sister Abbey couldn't get enough of this as she maxed out doing the Rockstar session as a member of the West Marshall Class of 2012.   Even older brother, Tyler ('09) was as into the experience as you'll ever see a guy be.

Sam on the other hand?  Two words:   Laid.  Back.

Easy goin' and chill, Mr. Sam wasn't about to let the fact that he was being kidnapped by the overzealous duo of Mama Theresa and Photographer Bryan and being forced to take copious amounts of images bother him in the least.

I had last seen Sam back in '08 when we photographed the entire Sheer clan.   A lot can change in five years... and it certainly did in this case.   If he was 5-foot-5 back then, he was lucky.  Now he's every bit of 6-foot-3... long, lean and athletic... when he padded up in his Trojan football gear, I thought... DANG!   Dude has game now.

But before all that happened, Theresa and I had to systematically torture Sam first.  Several changes of clothes... a trip out of town and back... and enough smiles to wear out those cheek muscles.  Not surprisingly, Sam was polite and agreeable and went along for the ride... literally and figuratively.

The Sheers are a special family to us because a little part of our family roams their home everyday.

Their beloved house cat, Jules was born at Casa de Stewart, and the Sheers were more than willing to take the long-haired kitten off our hands last year, and turn it into the most spoiled fat cat you'll ever see!  I was told that Sam wanted to include princess Jules in the session, but evidently she didn't make the cut.  :)

Finally, we did end the session with the only part that Sam truly cared about... and that was the sports part.   In addition to the trademark Stewart Photography sports collage, the Sheers also had their own idea to break down football from a little different approach.... barefoot with jeans and shoulder pads... it was like a cross between an American Eagle and a Nike advertisement... and I'm not gonna lie... It works for me.

Facebook tells me that Mama Theresa is off doing the Color Run in Des Moines as we speak... so when she checks her phone next... her son Sam's blog will be waiting there for her.   Great to catch up with part of Team Sheer once again... and with next-in-line Stuart being in the same grade as my son Devyn (and therefore competitors in several sports) I'm sure I'll be getting updates on the family (and baby Jules) on a seasonal basis.

;)
