After 22 years and around 3500 seniors, it might be easy to forget... but then you have a session like this, and it reminds me all over again.
Sure it's busy. Sure it's a grind. And believe it or not... while seemingly everyone and their dog is wanting to become a "professional" photographer these days, just like any job... this becomes real work after the newness wears off.
So in the midst of another August grind, in pops a senior and a senior mom that are SO excited... and SO pumped... SO into this day that they've looked forward to for who knows how long. It makes it easy to light that fuse yet one more time.
She wasn't super demanding. She had her dog... and an idea of painting "2016" on her feet... oh and she wanted to frame herself with an antique picture frame. But other than that... she was just flat out jacked to be here. And I couldn't help but notice... and while I always am all about blowing the doors off our clients... it certainly doesn't hurt getting up to get in that zone when their intensity level meets yours.
So when West Marshall's diminutive Kadyn Tickle and Mama Kristina bowled me over with eager yeps, sures, uh-huhs, of courses and whatever-you-think-is-bests... it was like going back to 1993 and photographing my first senior ever. Lucky for them... I was armed with a couple decades of knowledge to go with the excitability.
I didn't mind telling Kadyn that she was perhaps the most petite senior girl I ever had the opportunity to photograph (what gal doesn't enjoy being told they are little or tiny!). If she wasn't... she had to be in the top five... (or is that the bottom five?) Not sure. But I digress.
So, while I was being my normal brazen complimentary self... suddenly I was informed that if it were Kadyn's choice... she wouldn't be so petite.
The ladies didn't mind sharing with me that Miss Tickle had been diagnosed with Turner Syndrome. I'll let you google it... but long story short, Kadyn was born with one less X chromosome then the rest of us.
I had no idea, I just figured she was little and supercute.
And the truth is... she is... and she wasn't gonna let a little Turner's get in her way.
Furthermore... she wasn't gonna let a little Starbucks get in her way, either.
Kadyn admitted to me that she had... (operative word is HAD) a job at Starbucks in Nevada. Upon scheduling her senior pictures with Stewart Photography and asking for her session date off from work and then not being granted it... she did what any one in their right mind SHOULD do.
Quit said job.
:)
Love me some Kadyn Tickle!
How do we rate? Pretty dang good, I'd say.
So. Honored.
Thanks for the pick-me-up excitement on that Wednesday, K & K. I hope I lived up to your expectations.
