This is beginning to sound a bit like a broken record.
As as far as I'm concerned... I'll listen to that record every day that ends in Y.
Make no mistake, we've been hit by a South Tama County tidal wave this year.
One after another, they've come en mass as well over a third of our 2016 seniors thus far are coming from the Twin Cities of Tama and Toledo.
Couple that with our recent announcement of garnering the STC sports and activities photography contract and the hiring of one of the aforementioned Trojan seniors to help us out part-time at the studio, and it cannot be denied. We're having a stellar year thanks to Team Trojan.
So what... big deal, right? I mean, after all... Stewart Photography IS the only full time photography studio in the STC School District, correct?
Yes... you'd be correct. But if you look historically, our Montour based studio photographed more Marshalltown seniors than anyone around from the mid 90s until around 2005ish.... and with our home in the East Marshall district with children that attend there... we've always had a strong foothold there in LeGrand with many loyal Mustang clients. And over the years, I can say that we've had years where we've photographed more BCLUW or GMG seniors than any other studio locally.
So where have we fallen short? In our own backyard, ironically enough.
That all seems to be changing this year... and the STC Class of 2016 is making sure of it.
The latest installment from the Trojan insurgence came in the form of senior Mitch Thede.
Mitch got our day together started off by stepping into my wheelhouse with some football images right out of the gate. Mama Julie, her son and I met Papa Mike (who was delivering the forgotten STC baseball hat to us) at the football field. And while Mike was there... I unsurprisingly put him to work. We were battling a full sun field and let me tell ya. The elder Mr. Thede can scrim light with the best of them!
So there we were... Julie holding the strobes... Mike protecting the lens from sun glare... Mitch looking B.A. on the grid iron... and Yours Truly... laying on my stomach in the wet morning dew getting the killer angle we needed.
It's a team operation around here, and I'm not ashamed to use the assets I'm given, right Mom and Dad?
:)
We completed several angles around the Trojan complex and said goodbye to Mike for the time being and then the three remaining of us took off to tackle the rest of the session.
There was plenty of talk about the new STC contract and I was pleased to hear from the Thede's about how excited the guys and their parents are that we're going to be doing their football pictures here next week. And while they are enthusiastic about those prospects, I have little doubt they're even MORE excited for the games to begin there at South Tama.
And I'm not gonna blame them.
The Trojans are loaded and are ready to start takin' names.
While it still has to be proven on the field... and health and many other intangibles all play a role... I don't think it's going out on a limb to expect big things from this unit that Mitch is right in the middle of.
I mean RIGHT in the middle of. He's triggering every play from the center position in a line that teams will be hard pressed to match up with. Toss in a running back that's won the state's deadlifting competition two years in a row at the State Fair (stay tuned... we photograph him next week, too)... I'm guessing many a defensive coordinator is gonna lose sleep trying to slow down this juggernaut.
So they're gonna be a solid outfit... that much is nearly certain. That made it totally justified then for Mitch to start and end his session with the football theme (we designed the collage illustration you see here at the end of the day). Oh we took a trip to another town to get him some poses in his "regular" outfits... so it wasn't ALL sports... But Mama Julie will testify... there was a whole lotta sports talk goin' on to go along with the sports shots.
I can't think of a better way to spend my time.
Thanks Team Thede... Sounds like we're gonna be seeing lots of each other this year.
