Breakfast at Wimbledon... or at MHS...

It's fitting that during Wimbledon week I should do a senior that has a love for tennis...

So Wednesday morning we didn't find any grass courts, strawberries or any else really resembling The Championships... but we did have the Bobcat courts... some fuzzy yellow spheres... and the boy next door.

The fella next door?

That's right, Donovan quite literally lives right across the street from Marshalltown High School and about a 30 second walk from the tennis courts. I'm not sure if he'd call it his Home Away from Home... but if it's not... he could camp out there and be within earshot of Mama Nancy hollering to tell him that dinner was ready!

By my count, it was my third straight year to try to come up with some new angles in this facility, and I think we were successful with the help of a overcast sky. We fought the drizzle throughout the session with Team Donovan, but I was pleased with what we came up with.

After finishing at the courts... we ran uptown to get just a smidge of urban flavor before returning to Montour for the remainder of the session. I often worry about keeping senior guys' attention after doing the ONE thing they really care about done right out of the gate... but we had no choice... and fortunately... unless he was faking me out... it seemed like Mr. Reyes was thinking this wasn't too bad.

Despite the cold blustery "summer" weather, we go the session in. I'm sure Donovan has grown weary of the rainy pattern which has kept him from getting to do his job as a lifeguard at the Marshalltown Aquatic Center more than a time or two this season. In between work, and allergies postponing his original session date... and the fact he'll be out state for the greater part of July... it seemed like his mom and I were fighting a losing battle trying to get this session done! But alas... we did it... and I love the results.

If I learned one thing from Nancy and Donovan Wednesday morning... it's that no matter how long you've been at it... how many times you've done it... never ever, taking anyone for granted.

Thanks for your business, gang. ;)
