It seemed it was a contradiction of epic proportions.
With her daughters, it was enough poor-boying it that it would make even Lou Holtz look like a braggart. Bring in her son? Muhammad Ali would blush.
Now that I have my younger crowd busy on Google trying to figure out what the heck I'm even talking about. Let me explain.
Beth Jackley's third child, Clark, came to visit me a couple Friday's ago.... I had already had the honor and privilege of photographing sister Whitney and Logan. Two of the prettiest gals you'll ever set eyes on.
The funny thing to me was this.
On the second go around, Mama Jackley warned me that after the fabulous session with child one, Whitney, I was in store for for a "tom-boy" or not such a "girlie-girl" with daugher number two, Logan.
Logan walked in... and was every bit as fab as Whit... and I thought to myself... If THIS is the "not-so-girlie-girl"... I'll sign up to SOMEHOW try to make THAT look good every day that ends in Y.
:)
So, after the amazing session that was Whitney... and then the gross underestimation that was Logan... what could I then expect from Clark?
We were on the very first set of image with Mr. Clark... and we were shooting with a sweet crotch rocket with a SuperMan logo on it to match the broad "S" on his t-shirt and I had nothing more to say than... "Clarke... you're The Man."
And suddenly... in a complete 180-degree switcheroo that would make even Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde look like bobbsey-twins, Beth gave me a laundry list of honors, accomplishments, awards, activities and accolades that clearly made my assumption seem dead on.
Logan... If I were you... I might be crying foul! :)
I have no doubt that Beth loves all her children equally, but I did have to call her out on her opposite end of the spectrum approach! :)
One approach that didn't change was my mission to make awesome images for the Jackley family. I again had the help of job-shadower Brett McBain as we attacked a guy session this time.
Brett and Beth both got to hear my "Bryan Stewart Theory On Guy Posing 101." Beth hadn't heard it because we had photographed only daughters up until that point. Brett hadn't heard it because he hadn't sat thru a guy session yet. I know both were thoroughly impressed with my theory, and I think I've thoroughly prepared all those that have heard my theory to be successful senior boy photographers.
In the end, I could be wrong, but I think we successfully achieved our goal of going 3-for-3 in making killer images for Team Jackley. No matter the approach from the client side of things, our job remains the same.... and the other thing that was identical... was that each time that Beth Jackley visited... I had a great time at my job... and I was told a long time ago that if you enjoy your job... you'll never work a day in your life.
That Friday, like most every day... didn't feel like work. Thanks Jackley family. :)
