As solid as a forehand smash...

Last week ended with a smash as Jeff brought his tennis flair to the studio.

Usually guys have their one thing that they bring to the table as something that they have passion about... in this case it was clear.

So, we got the "regular" stuff out of the way and then found a local court to make some unique stuff. Jeff didn't know that I was going to put him through a grueling practice session (as I made him bang out serve after serve... forehand after forehand, until I got what I wanted.

While Jeff was working hard... I wasn't without work or risk either. I'm lying prone on the other side of the net... clearly in the line of fire. Serves and shots coming QUICK. The dude was very accurate (thankfully)... and I wouldn't expect anything less as my client finished fourth in the state a year ago in Class 1A. Brutha has mad game... that's for sure. That being said... one DID get away and pegged my foot... but I survived. ;-)

Interestingly this morning as I author this... I remember asking Jeff who his favorite player was (making small talk like i do regularly). I'm no tennis expert... but I've heard of Federer, Nadal... the usual suspects. Jeff's answer surprised me.

"Juan Martin del Potro."

Who?

"He's ranked fifth in the world."

Ok. End of conversation... never heard of the guy.

Read your morning paper, folks. Jeff's fav just knocked off Federer last night to win the U.S. Open. Federer had only won the thing 5 years in a row... and was rolling on a 40 match win streak.

I know who the guy is now... and so does the rest of the world. Cool.
