Private Practice

Chris has his plan... and it's simple.

Graduate from East Marshall... enroll in the Army. Serve for twenty years.

Retire.

That would make him retired at age 38... and as I approach MY 38th birthday here in a couple weeks... I think back over the past twenty years since I graduated and I think that it takes a lot of foresight, vision and dedication for a high school senior to commit to our country in this way.

I've always prided myself in my ability to relate to almost every senior we photograph on some level. A broad high school and college experience has allowed me to relate to jocks, nerds, preps, academics, rock-n-rollers and drama queens. One thing I didn't do is serve.

So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that I admire what Chris, and all others before him, that have chosen a path of service to our country. Especially this week, as we all paused on Friday to remember the 9/11 attacks on our countries' soil eight years ago, we should ALL be thankful that we have those that are willing to sacrifice for us so we can enjoy relatively silly things that bring us joy... like razzing each other over the Iowa/ISU football game (35-3... just reporting the facts). ;-)

Young Christofer was a pleasure to get to know better, and I think his images are not just strong... they're Army Strong.
