So today was a special day... June 1st is always our unofficial start of senior season and we got things rollin' with an East Marshall guy with a few connections to me personally.
Nic here grew up right across the street from the house that I grew up at in Gilman. His younger sister, Kristin works for me and his mom is one of my biggest supporters. So it was fitting that Mr. Nic got us started off on the right foot with the Class of 2011.
Truth be known. Nic and his father Scott got us going in the calm before the storm back on a Friday night in mid-April when i met the two of them at the Marshalltown Speedway to photograph Nic with Richie Gustin's car. Papa Scott and Nic have helped Richie put together quite a ride and they wanted to have some images done with it before the season got going too far and the wear and tear that inevitably comes made the car less photogenic.
So today was time for the rest of the story... and Nic and Mama Cherie and I took a roadie all over. We found a sweet truck at one of the salvage yards where Scott works to shoot by.... a rusty truck just can't be beat, now can it? ;-)
We owned the streets of Marshalltown on this June day... I got Scott out of work at Hogeland Auto for a bit.... Cherie out of her post at Bath and Body... and very likely... Nic out of bed much earlier than he would have liked. Truth is... he would have much rather been watching his girlfriend at state golf... but it's my hope that if he couldn't have been there... (or sleepin in) i was a decent third place finisher.
