Finally!
No doubt many of my seniors are saying just that these days. The busy season is winding down a bit now, and yet this massive PILE of jpeg compressions have to be manipulated, edited, sorted, printed and blogged.
Sessions that were planned back in the summer, photographed several months later... and presented.... even later yet!
A perfect example of this is West Marshall senior, Zack Tichy.
His mama, Belinda was organized. She called plenty early enough. Way back in early summer in fact.
So why was the session not until mid October?
Team Tichy needed images done at the West Marshall High School sports complex, but as most know in Greater State Centeropolis, the area around the football field was torn up all summer... and into the fall.
So we waited... waited... and waited some more. And while the lining of the track wasn't yet completed... the surface was... and waiting was really not much of an option anymore.
We were blessed with a sunny day. And while the images may not show it... we were also blessed in once other area. The fact we were photographing a young man with short hair!
A persistent wind howled nearly all day... sometimes up to 35 mph. It prompted me to tell Zack and his mom that if he woulda been a girl... we would most certainly have postponed.
But onward and upward we went... and as planned... we started at the newly minted track at West Marshall High. At that point, the football season was winding down... so there was plenty of talk about his last couple of games and the bittersweet feeling that comes along with that for all football players at any level.
We also discussed the fine season that our Iowa Hawkeyes were having (little did we know that the wins were gonna just keep on comin... but they have!) In addition, Zack and I also talked Bears and Steelers football. Both teams aren't as good as either of us would like... but are showing promising signs going forward.
Once we finished up dealing with our Trojan noseguard and seasoned sprinter, our focus turned to battling the winds in an urban setting east of there. We banged out his sporty little red Dodge and flashed the leather all over town before heading back to the studio.
Feeling like a frayed out flag, we got out of the wind and took our future University of Northern Iowa graphic technologies major indoors to makes some images that his "graphic designer" could make into a sports collage for him somewhere down the road.
We had Zack ripping and swimming noseguard style all over the camera room in addition to showing off his love of all things Marvel Comics. Toss in a trumpet for good measure and it doesn't take a graphic technology major to see that we had a full day on our hands! A long session indeed... especially for a guy. So I'd like to thank Zack for his patience... not only in waiting for his finished previews to be unveiled... but also for his willingness to go about 4 outfits longer than most guys can stand! :)
All in all, the Tichys were extremely complimentary as to how the day went and in the middle of a crazy busy time... that keeps a guy going and makes ya feel like doing all you can to live up to their advanced hopes and dreams for their images.
So without further delay... your images are ready, Mr. Tichy. Enjoy and thanks for choosing Stewart Photography... I don't take that decision lightly
