Everyone deserves a trademark image or look to leave our studio with.
Sometimes we develop that for the senior... other times it's already
distinctly theirs before they walk in the door.
And in walked Scott Poe.
A fella of few words, I asked him if there was anything he wanted to make SURE we did for his session before we started.
He
paused... thought long and hard about it, and before he could say "nah,
not really," (like most guys do) he said, "Oh... I've got a pair of old
school Air Jordan's that you have to emphasize."
My ears perked up. Air Jordans?
When
Scott then showed me... My hunch was right, it was the ORIGINAL
Jordan's. The one's that Jordan himself wore as a rookie in 1984 and
became a worldwide craze in 1985.
1985... that woulda put
Scott's photographer in 8th grade... playing junior high basketball...
and wearing.... you guessed it. Air Jordan's. Sure, mine were all
white until I used model paint to make them into the black and gold
version of the Chicago Bulls star's iconic look so they would match my school's colors... but make no mistake... they were the shoes to have.
Even better... Scott had an entire ensemble to accent his sweet kicks... and not only that... he had a story behind his look.
The look... as you can see here is a matching BRIGHT red sweater... black slacks... and the Jordan's to bookend the outfit.
As
the story goes, Scott told me that at a speech contest he once had this
same outfit on... except that he was SUPPOSED to put on black dress
shoes before he came into face the judges with his narration.
Except that he forgot to put on the black shoes.
The
judges were instead treated to Scott's look of high tops with the
dressy outfit... and BAM... the Scott Poe trademark was born.
As a
child of the late 80s and early 90s I couldn't help but tell Scott that
if he got three more buddies with him in the same outfit... they could
pass for a most excellent spinoff of Boyz II Men and crack out a
Caucasian version of Motownphilly. ;)
So we had fun with Scott's
unique look... and we took time to swap cross country stories in and
amongst a T, a plaid and a suit for good measure.
We never skipped a beat, nah...
While coolin' on Elm Street..
Jet black H3, plenty of DMD
And all the Rube's Steaks you could eat.
Poe-townphilly's back again ...
