Sports Roundtable with the Underwoods...
Many seniors have learned recently that when you sign up for a senior session at Stewart Photography, you're not in for two hour in-and-out kinda deal.
It can be twice, or even three times that long.
Sure we roll out the red carpet and shoot images like crazy. We travel if we have to, we don't cut corners. We're meticulous.
But maybe more so than ever over the past month, our seniors have, more often than not figured out if they wanna shorten up their session length, don't get me talkin' about sports.
;)
Sometimes it's nearly unavoidable, because we see more seniors that are out for sports than we see those that aren't. Naturally then, the topic is bound to come up. How LONG we stay on the topic may be up to whether the senior (or senior mom) wants to stand toe-to-toe with me on a variety of sports related issues. Some jump to another topic quickly... and some are like the Underwoods.
Claire Underwood and her mother, Sue were the latest in a long line of sporty seniors and senior parents that fortunately (or unfortunately depending on your point of view) lit that candle during their turn at the Stewart Photography Sports Roundtable... but judging from their willingness to trade viewpoints with me, I don't think they minded.
I read one of those funnies on facebook recently that girls that love football get bigger diamonds... I couldn't help but think of Claire and her mom because we covered ALL the bases... not just football.
Oh sure... we talked West Marshall football and how they are putting together yet ANOTHER amazing season... and I found out that Claire is a HUGE Denver Broncos fan (not a bad team to run your flag up a pole for this year... Sunday night non-withstanding). But we also talked side topics like weight training (again... hats off West Marshall) and Homecoming (congrats on making court, Miss Underwood!) not too mention coaching philosophy and how that makes athletes feel.
Believe me... the air was cleared in the camera room as both photographer and client left no stone unturned.
I learned Claire is the libero on the current edition of Trojan volleyball... and she and my daughter have competed for either side of Marshall County on area golf courses in the spring.
All in all, I don't generally go into senior sessions with girls planning on it turning into our version of The Sports Reporters or First Take with Skip and Stephen A, but if it goes that way, you certainly won't get any complaints from this guy!
More than anything, what I learned from this session is that when Claire ends up a big diamond someday, it won't JUST be because she can get in and trade barbs with the boys when they're talking NFL, it's because she has true beauty... inside and out, and that something that Gary and Sue Underwood can be proud of, regardless of how many games the Broncos win or how far the Trojans go in the upcoming volleyball postseason.
Thanks for a fun session, Team Underwood. Come back anytime.
