Comet/Center/Cub/Captured - CEO Can't Keep Control

Monday's are SUPPOSED to be my day off.

I learned a long time ago, however, that in order to fit in all the seniors that we need to in a relatively short busy season... that isn't possible.

So... our built in day off, ends up being a day to get in another session.

I've told my help for years... let ME book those sessions. Translation... don't take away my day off unless the CEO says you can... or he just does it himself.

As it turns out, I normally fall on the self-inflicted sword by booking nearly every Monday in the summer.

We came into the last week of summer vacation a couple of weeks back and the last Monday prior to school starting for most area schools was still sitting open.

A small blessing of sorts as we've been further behind over the last month than we've ever been in 18 years of doing this photography thing.

So...chance to catch up, right?

Yes... or so I thought.

I came back in from a shoot one day and MY boss (also known as my wife) was making a rare appearance at the studio.

Luckily for Darci Steckelberg, she went over my head.

After having to cancel just a couple days before her son's original session in early August, getting back in prior to school wasn't gonna be possible, especially with the photographer being so far behind. So when I came in from a session to hear my dear wife say... "you're gonna kill me," I knew what had been done.

Steckelbergs got that last Monday of the summer.

If I was gonna fall even further behind... it couldn't have been with nicer, more appreciative folks as Joel and Darci were so much fun.

I had photographed older sis, Krysta a few years back, so I knew mom from before... and we shoot little sis, Becca at dance pictures too.

Joel seemed to get a kick out of me getting worked over by my wife and his mother's back-door-dealings, but somehow him bringing in a Chicago Cubs shirt made it all good.

You know you have to be die-hard to stomach wearing in Cubs gear duringa season like this one. Ace pitcher suspended... GM fired... team buried in the standings.... no problem... BUST OUT THE CUBS SHIRT! (check out the involuntary tongue action Joel had goin when I asked him to toss the baseball in the air!)

As a fellow Cubs "sufferer" we paid homage to the North Siders... in addition, we ripped off another killer Comet sports collage to highlight being a pitcher/firstbaseman/center/linebacker and golfer... made a trip into Marshalltown for urban work and I also got an education on Mama Darci's LeGrand roots and did some learnin' on the fact that her family used to run the icon on "The Corner" .... also known as That Place back int he day. Who knew?

Despite all that... Darci had one more request before the session could be complete. Back when we did sister Krysta's session... we thru in her favorite fleece top just for fun since it was the garment that she was most comfortable in. To counter balance that... Darci's wheels were churning and she thought it would be fitting to have Joel wear his "Scheels" t-shirt that he wears ALL the time... even to athletic banquets for all to enjoy.

I didn't argue or ask more questions... Just like with my wife, I've learned just to just nod and say yes when Mrs. Steckelberg asks me to do something. :)

LOL!
