Mad-Dawg returns...

I told her then... that I hoped I wouldn't disappoint.

She assured me that nothing could be further from the truth... but, I wasn't so sure.

Maddie had done what some have done in the past... and that's to come to a friend's session. On the surface, I think it's a GREAT thing... Fun for them... more fun for the person being photographed because they've got a known quantity along for the ride... someone they trust... someone they can count on. In addition it gives the guest a bit of a preview of what's to come.

And that's where my insecurities kick in.

Maddie had been in on July 19 with her bff and hand-jive-partner-in-crime, Abby. And I asked Mad... "are you sure this isn't gonna ruin the excitement for ya? Not gonna steal away some of the mystery?"

"NOT AT ALL!"

Right answer, Miss Olson. Right answer.

Truth is, Maddie has had all the right answers in the brief time I've gotten to know her. She added to Abby's amazing session with tons of comic relief. She could NOT have been more fun to photograph on her day. And she's been extremely encouraging and gracious during her excruciating wait for me to finally get to her art on her images.

I didn't get a chance to see Mama Liz that day, whom I'm nearly positive has had much to do with Madison's awesomeness, so instead, Sister Kellie and Cousin Nicole completed the Blonde Bombshell Trio back on the last day of August. I think Cyclone fan Maddie may have been rethinking the idea of bringing along Hawkeye fan Nicole as Nic and I talked Hawks ALOT that day... but after the events that took place yesterday, I'm guessing that all is forgiven.

:)

If you get a chance to see Mad-Dawg's preview book, please pay special attention to what I'll call her "frustrated model" look. Trust me folks, the girl could drop that dime like no other, but I had a difficult time doing art on those images, because when I think of Maddie... her beaming smile is her trademark. So when it came time to put together yet another B.A. sports collage, we did our tough girl looks for THAT... but at the center of it all, we still got back to what the true Maddie is... and that's that infectious smile.

Not even impending rain could stop us on that day as Mad, Kel, Nic and I busted into Marshalltown and knocked out another killer urban session just before the precip began. Maddie was getting texts and facebook messages of concern from friends (including slacker Abby who couldn't return the favor for her unselfish friend... JUST KIDDING, Scabby!).

There would be no worries on this day, however. The session was completed. We got awesome unique images that are different than her best friend's and while there was thunder on this day... it wasn't stolen back on July 19.... and I made sure of it.

Good job outta you, Maddie-O. :)
