Tuesday afternoon was another gal that was in the works for quite some time as Erynn from HLV made her long anticipated arrival in Montour.
Erynn had sought out our services several months ago by contacting me by email and Facebook. We put our best foot forward with our pitch and mailer.
Then nothing.
"Hey Erynn... still considering us?"
"Yep... Mom and I have to convince Dad first."
Uh oh.
Any photographer of any ilk will tell you that getting Dad involved CAN be the death nail on a session being booked... or perhaps the wet blanket on an order that "the girls" really want. Bottom line... most guys don't get too worked up about this... many don't see the importance.
So, with that background now in your arsenal, my response to Erynn was, "Young lady... if you can avoid it... just stick to you and mom... don't get Dad involved... dad's are cheap... I should know... I am one." ;-)
After all the laughs... there was no more news for several more weeks. Until one day, the phone rings.
"Stewart Photography... this is Bryan."
"Bryan!.... This is that 'Cheap Dad'.... Dan DeRycke."
Uh oh.
Dan was actually way cool about everything... just doing his due diligence. And the diligence included the 20 question-grilling about all things money related... (dad's foot the bill... they wanna know!)... but in the end... Dan knew his fate had already been sealed. It was what his baby girl wanted! So, after 20 minutes of questions, inquiries and quips, Dan admitted, "well, don't let your head get too big... but we've looked around... and your stuff is the best... and it's not even close, really."
Good man. :-)
So Dan's bride Jill, and firstborn Erynn were finally here on Tuesday and all I have to say is that for a girl off the farm and a self-admitted simple preschool teacher... these ladies knew style like nobody's business and were SO much fun. Thanks ladies... and thanks, Dan... Wise is the man that realizes that keeping the ladies at home happy is of utmost importance.
