Ok, I'm not gonna lie.
Totally jealous of this dude.
Maybe it's the just the fact that it's football season... and I get caught up in Lord Football this time of year. But, seriously man... you make me sick. ;-)
Ok, first of all... if it ain't enough to be the featured back on the state's No. 1-ranked Class 3A football team... if it's not enough to have a frame that was chiseled outta granite... (did I mention he's been to state in wrestling, too?) if it's not enough for ALL that... you're not supposed to be a nice guy, too.
You're supposed to be brash, cocky... maybe even kind of a jerk. A "it ain't braggin' if you can back it up" type of guy. But folks... nothing could be further from the truth with this one.
I found Brett to be easy goin'... conversational... and *gasp* polite, kind and considerate.
I doubt Benton Community thought this runaway brickhouse was "considerate" as he rambled for 156 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries in a 62-19 romp over the Bobcats two days after his session.... but that's the breaks.
Clearly between the lines the guy flips a switch... because he's about as nice as they come otherwise.
We talked alot of football... mostly the remaining schedule for Williamsburg (BIG one this Friday at No. 7 Solon) and we talked about the beatdown that Penn State was gonna get (and they did). We talked about where he might play in college (still trying to convince him that it's OK for Brett to follow many other Raiders to Central in Pella) and we also chatted a little about his Molly back home... (sorry ladies... taken).
All-in-all... just a solid session with a stand up guy. Brett kept my Williamsburg "streak" alive this year as we've had at least ONE Raider senior per year for the last six year since studio fav, Kaytee Kleinmeyer got it all started back in 2006.
I'd be remiss if I didn't give credit where credit is due here... I had asked Brett's mom, Lesa how they ended up finding us from over an hour away... and it was seeing pictures of a local guy.
Being a wrestler, Brett had locked horns with East Marshall on the mat a few times... Mama Lesa told me that Brett was so impressed with 2010 senior Sam Upah's images from a year ago... he felt like it was worth the drive. And for all of the 8 a.m. complainers... the Waughops (pron. "wop") were here at 7:57 a.m. ready to roll all the way from the land of the Outlet Mall.
Good job outta you guys. Beat Solon, my man.
