EM's Ocho Cinco ~ misión realizado

For those of you unfamiliar, there's a wackjob professional football player named Chad Johnson who thought it might be a good idea to gloss himself "Ocho Cinco" in way to promote his likeness by incorrectly using a Spanish version his football number, eighty-five. Ever the self-promoter, Mr. Johnson took things a step further and actually had his name legally changed to Chad Ocho Cinco in one of the most idiotic, yet somehow hilarious just-because-I-can stunts that we've ever seen.

Now part of popular culture, even the non-football fan has heard the wrong way to say eighty-five in Spanish. (it's "ochenta y cinco" incidentally... see... not NEARLY as catchy... That Chad Johnson ain't no dummy... ok, maybe he is... but I digress)

So... why am I going on and on about this?

Well, my senior on Thursday afternoon proudly wears 85 on his jersey for East Marshall High. And who doesn't like being linked to popular culture when you're in high school? Hello!?!

Seriously, though, I don't think Jake's mother has any worries of her son running to the Marshall County Courthouse to begin proceedings to get his name changed. In fact, Jake is about the polar opposite of the Cincinnati Bengals flamboyant freak.

All that being said, it WAS clear on Thursday that if anything was to have flash or flare... it would be the sports images that we created, so we went to work to do just that.

Mom had a contraption all made up to properly display her son's year-round dedication to all the major sports at East Marshall. We even had purple Gatorade to add a little twist and fun to our images. Great idea gang!

He may have not known it coming in... but Jake and I share a common bond. I did his older brother's pictures just one year ago as Carsen paid us a visit last summer. Being the younger brother by just one year can be a challenge sometimes... always gettin' the hand-me-downs... seemingly always a step behind, perhaps. I know... I lived it. So, I made Jake a promise before we started that I would make sure that his images and his experience were different that his brother's a year ago.

It's now safe to say, mission accomplished... or perhaps, misión realizado. :)
