Ok, not sure where to start with this one...How about this?Get the tissues, Tammy.Friday morning was extra special for me personally as a family that I've grown close to over the years was in.
We've broke bread together, prayed together, stood side by side watching our kids compete... coached together... shared our homes... heck... the senior's kid brother is best friends with my oldest son. Mom and Dad are just good people... and I can't think of anyone else in our community that I like talking to more... about anything. Days like these are what is really cool about owning a small business in a small community.
The connections and history are many and extensive. Like most East Marshall kids... I've watched D.J. grow into a fine young man. Polite, thoughtful, the kid just gets it. Oh, I'm sure he has his moments, like we all do. But, I've never thought any thing less of "Deej" (as I like to call him) than this.... Dude is just a likable guy. Folks, that doesn't "just happen." I think Joel and Tammy have done well.
Friday was PACKED with projects! We started with having to work in perhaps the coolest car I've ever seen as the family has relation that owns and operates the Jensen Ford dealership in Marshalltown. So... I got reunited with Stewart Photography "alum" Paige Jensen (MHS, 2005) , even got a hug out of the deal! Anyway... Paige has got one sweet ride as you can see here... and it was nice of her to share it with us bright and early!
Next was a trip to the McAnulty residence south of LeGrand... We got the family dogs photographed... and I had always wanted to shoot by the old corn crib there by their driveway... and I finally got my chance. Check out the black/white profile image! Sweetness.
What came NEXT was the highlight of the day. D.J. had asked me prior to his session if there was a way that we could emulate LeBron James' pre-game ritual of tossing powder in the air at the scorer's bench.I had a feeling it was gonna be a LOT of work... and would probably make a mess.. (it did)... but the result is priceless. In the summer that has become the season of asking for forgiveness, instead of permission, I'd like to personally thank EM custodians Norris and Denny for not killing us. ;-)
After all that was done... we still had to get our guest of honor back to the studio and run rapid fire through all his sports outfits to comprise yet another trademark sports collage. (oh... forgot the trip to Cissy's to get some of D.J. sports drink of choice... MILK) Anyway... you get the picture... it was a full morning... and amazing morning....... and I'm not afraid to say it. I love you guys... in every way a friend can. Thank you for your business.
