Every February our studio gets the honor of photographing the Marshalltown Area Tumbling Club. It's usually a CRAZY night with TONS of little ones in leotards, a MASSIVE group shot of 120+ persons and, of course, I'm convinced that the MAT Club singlehandedly keeps trophy makers in business.
I'm not sure when we started doing this job... but I'm thinking it's been at least ten years ago. And one face we've seen over and over and over... finally became a senior.
Miss Ericka is an accomplished tumbler for Ron Brooks and Diane Peden's gym, but it was sweet to get this gal in something other than a leotard and bust out our best efforts. It was the last session at the end of a hectic week, but Erika and I left no stone unturned as we nailed some unique stuff as we bounced from place to place countryside. Does this girl not have the most gorgeous color of red hair? Eat your heart out Julia Roberts! ;-)
Of course, the session wouldn't have been complete without including her MAT accomplishments... and what better way to do that than to include EVERY trophy she had ever earned!
Check out that shot below... 100+ trophies in what HAS to be the studio record for most STUFF ever included in one image. Back in the day, Michael Richardson (East Marshall, '04) brought in two car loads of Kansas City Chiefs' memorabilia, and that was insane... but I think Erika's endeavor tops that. One would expect that someone that's been at this since they were knee-high may have accumulated a little bling... and this gal is good enough that she was the nation's BEST at her age just a few years back. So, it was worth the time to create this conglomeration of awards.
Best of all, what I learned Friday, is that Erika is much more than just a tumbler... she was polite, kind, appreciative of our efforts, and any day that ends with a hug from a client is a good one.
