Ok, maybe making a stretch by using a computer companies' slogan to tie together the initials of a senior isn't THAT creative... but it got me to thinking.
Typically, I get a lot of this when a senior sits down with me before the session...
They look me in the eye when I ask them if there's anything that they want, and as if I've NEVER heard it before... they say.... "I want something really unique... different."
If I only had a nickel for...
The good news here is that Hillary Purvis was the exact opposite of the aforementioned scenario.
Clearly yet another beauty that good make most photographers look like they were decent... Hillary coulda gone anywhere... OR she coulda came here and ratcheted up the pressure by saying... make it different! What DID she do?
She, along with her wonderful mother, Vicki said we've seen so much of your work... we're excited to be here... we totally trust you.
Who doesn't wanna work with that?
The revelation here is that, in fact, I DIDN'T have to "invent" anything... or re-invent anything.... it was just pure fun for several hours with an awesome gal and a mom that was tickled to be there shoulder to shoulder with me and watching her beautiful daughter have the time of her life. What's not cool about that?
I mean seriously... LOOK at that cheer collage! It's just a faded image in the background... but you cannot FAKE that kinda smile. That, my friends, is priceless.
So, I didn't have to invent anything. Vicki and Terry Purvis along with God had already done all the heavy lifting. Hillary was simply a breath of fresh air in what was a suffocating week of heat and intense scheduling. I needed that... and I also realize that it's not about me... that afternoon was about Hillary... and bringing out her fresh face and infectious smile in the most complimentary of ways. I think if you look up cheerleader in the dictionary.. you very well might see her picture. ;-)
So my self-glossed "Gladbrook-Reinbeck" day came to and end on Wednesday as we photographed classmates, Kelli and Hillary... If I've said it once... I've said it a million times... sometimes I can't believe I get paid to do this stuff.
Thanks, Purvis ladies... you were the bomb!
